Andy Blue
Associate Curator
  • San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Andy has been working with most species of rhinos for over 30 years in various capacities, including animal keeper, animal care manager, and curator of mammals, developing expertise in rhino management, reproduction, and behavior. His most rewarding work has been transporting rhinos to different facilities all over the world. He has brought rhinos to and from several zoos in the United States as well as India, Europe, and Japan. Most of those shipments include inspecting facilities prior to the shipment, as well as accompanying the animals on the aircraft during the flight. Andy stays with the animal and works with the receiving institution's keepers while the animal settles into its new home—where it will educate and inspire new groups of visitors.
